Charles Town Gaming Scholarship
The Charles Town Gaming Scholarship is designated as a general academic award for students who are employed by the Charles Town Races and Hollywood Casino. This annually funded award was established in 2008.
Charles Town Kiwanis Club Scholarship
The Charles Town Kiwanis Scholarship is designated as a general academic award. This endowed fund was among the first to be established upon the Shepherd University Foundation's inception in 1967. The organization has since made annual contributions to the fund, continuing their support of Shepherd University for more than 40 years.
Charles Town Lions Club Scholarship
The Charles Town Lions Club Nursing Scholarship is designated for nursing students. This endowment was established in 1999.
Charles Victor Perry Memorial Scholarship
The Charles Victor Perry Memorial Scholarship is designated for nursing students with financial need, with preference given to residents of West Virginia. This annually funded award was created by Dr. Doris Burkey ’88 and her husband, Michael, in memory of Doris’ son, who passed away in 1976 at 11 ½ months old from viral meningitis. His passing inspired Dr. Burkey to pursue a career in nursing, despite being a young single mother at the time. Dr. Burkey earned her associate’s degree in nursing from Shepherd College in 1988, followed by her masters of science in nursing (with nurse family practitioner), her B.S.N., and finally her doctorate of nursing (D.N.P). In 2015, she returned to her alma mater to serve as an assistant professor of nursing in Shepherd’s Doctorate of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.) program, the first doctorate-level program offered by the University. Dr. Burkey also coordinates the family nurse practitioner tract of the program.
Charles W. Carter Memorial Scholarship
The Charles W. Carter Memorial Scholarship is designated for Shepherd students pursuing studies in the area of English. This endowment was created in 2020 through a gift from the estate of the late Charles W. Carter. Dr. Carter was a former chair of the Department of English at Shepherd University. He retired in 2010 following 38 years of dedicated teaching and leadership.
Charles Woodward Scholarship
The Charles Woodward Scholarship is designated for students majoring in biology, nursing, or related medical field. This endowment was created in 1998 by the Shepherd University biology and nursing departments to commemorate the retirement of Professor Charles H. Woodward, who taught biology and science education at Shepherd for over 30 years.
Charlie Kave Memorial Scholarship
The Charlie Kave Memorial Scholarship is designated for student athletes in the Ram football program. This endowment was established in 2002 to honor Shepherdstown resident and longtime football fan Charlie Kave.
Citizens National Bank, Berkeley Springs Scholarship
The Citizens National Bank of Berkeley Springs Scholarship is designated for students from Morgan County, WV.
City National Bank Scholarship
The City National Bank Scholarship is designated as a general academic award. This endowed fund was originally created by the Blue Ridge Bank before its name change in 1999.
Coach Dean Pease Memorial Scholarship
The Coach Dean Pease Memorial Scholarship is designated for students athletes in the baseball program. This endowment was established in 1994 by family and friends in memory of Dr. Dean A. Pease (1941-1994) who served as chair of health, physical education, recreation, safety, and athletics at Shepherd, in addition to the head baseball coach from 1981-1987.
