Capt. Charles N.G. Hendrix Memorial
The Captain Charles N.G. and Jessie Hendrix Memorial Scholarship is designated for pre-medicine students or those in related fields of research. This endowment was established in memory of Capt. Charles and Jessie Hendrix, parents of Dr. Mary Hendrix '74, a Shepherd biology graduate and internationally renowned medical researcher. Capt. Charles N.G. Hendrix served with distinction at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, and as a tribute, the Hendrix Oceanography Laboratory was built at the academy.
Capt. Joseph G. Kime III Memorial Scholarship
The Capt. Joseph G. Kime, III Memorial Scholarship is designated as a general academic award for veterans or children of veterans from Jefferson County, WV. This endowment was established in part by “Freedom Lives” donations made in memory of Captain Joseph Kime, III, the only Jefferson County casualty of the Persian Gulf War in 1991.
Carl K. Rauch and Susan Besaw Rauch Endowed Scholarship for Business

Carl Ray “Bubba” Riggleman “From the Heart” Memorial Scholarship
The Carl Ray "Bubba" Riggleman "From the Heart" Memorial Scholarship is designated as a general academic award for students athletes from Moorefield High School who have a history of strong school and community service and good sportsmanship. This annually funded award was established by Georgette Riggleman ’03, along with family and friends, in memory of her husband’s cousin and best friend who was a longtime softball coach at Moorefield High School.
Carole Ergin Scholarship Fund
The Carole Ergin Scholarship Fund is designated for WV social work majors who demonstrate volunteerism and community activism. This endowment was established by Dr. Erdem Ergin in memory of his wife, who was a commited community activist, social worker, and Shepherd faculty member. Together they founded the Community Alternatives to Violence, a non-profit which encompassed a focus on educating abusers.
