Carl Ray “Bubba” Riggleman “From the Heart” Memorial Scholarship
The Carl Ray "Bubba" Riggleman "From the Heart" Memorial Scholarship is designated as a general academic award for students athletes from Moorefield High School who have a history of strong school and community service and good sportsmanship. This annually funded award was established by Georgette Riggleman ’03, along with family and friends, in memory of her husband’s cousin and best friend who was a longtime softball coach at Moorefield High School.
Carole Ergin Scholarship Fund
The Carole Ergin Scholarship Fund is designated for WV social work majors who demonstrate volunteerism and community activism. This endowment was established by Dr. Erdem Ergin in memory of his wife, who was a commited community activist, social worker, and Shepherd faculty member. Together they founded the Community Alternatives to Violence, a non-profit which encompassed a focus on educating abusers.
Caroline Pritts Nethken Memorial Scholarship
The Caroline Pritts Nethken Memorial Scholarship is designated for students majoring in elementary education. This endowment was established by George and Mildred Nethken in memory of George’s mother, who attended Shepherd College in the early 1900's and went on to teach elementary school.
Carrie Armstrong Gans Memorial Scholarship
The Carrie Armstrong Gans Memorial Scholarship is designated for WV residents majoring in education. This endowment was established in 2005 by Jean Gans in memory of her mother, who received a teaching certificate from Shepherd College in 1924.
Carrol and Mary Ellen Wareham Kline Scholarship
The Carrol and Mary Ellen Wareham Kline Scholarship is designated as a general academic award for residents of the Eastern Panhandle, including Berkeley, Jefferson, and Morgan Counties, WV. This endowment was established by Carrol and Mary Ellen Kline, who were both retired Washington County, MD schoolteachers. Physical education majors are not eligible for this award.
Catherine C. Fix English Department Fund
The Catherine C. Fix English Department Fund is an endowed fund designated for writers participating in the annual English Department Essay contest.
Catherine Dunlop Scholarship
The Catherine Dunlop Scholarship is designated for students majoring in elementary education. This endowment was established in 2003 by Dr. David Dunlop, former president of Shepherd University, in honor of his wife.
Catherine Ocheltree and Kenneth Miller Saunders Memorial Scholarship
The Catherine Ocheltree and Kenneth Miller Saunders Memorial is designated for students majoring in art education. This endowed fund was created by Lawrence Saunders in memory of his mother, Catherine "Betty" Ocheltree, who was an artist and teacher.
Charles David and Sarah Reynolds Ebert Memorial Scholarship
The Charles David and Sarah Reynolds Ebert Memorial Scholarship is designated for students majoring in elementary education from Berkeley County, WV. This endowment was created in honor of the aunt and uncle of Shepherd alumnus John Reynolds '64, who made it possible for John to begin his career with the federal government by offering him affordable housing in their basement apartment when he moved to Washington, D.C. Charles and Sarah were both graduates of Shepherd College graduates.
Charles E. Doss Memorial scholarship
The Charles E. Doss Memorial Scholarship is designated as a general academic award. This endowment was established to honor Mr. Doss for his role as former business manager at Shepherd College, as well as his service to the Shepherd University Foundation Board of Directors.
