Barbara Puckett Greenstreet Scholarship
The Barbara Puckett Greenstreet Scholarship is designated for students majoring in education. This endowment was established in 2005 by Barbara Greenstreet '64, a retired teacher.
Basketball Scholarship
The Basketball Scholarship is designated for student athletes who play basketball.
BB&T Bank Scholarship (formerly F&M)
The BB&T Scholarship was originally established by F&M Bank as a general academic award. BB&T acquired F&M in 2004 and assumed the scholarship.
BB&T Bank/Lacy I. Rice, Sr. Endowed Scholarship
The BB&T/Lacy I. Rice, Sr. Endowed Scholarship is designated for incoming freshmen from Berkeley, Jefferson, or Morgan counties. This endowed fund was established in 1991 by One Valley Bank to memorialize Lacy Rice, a founder of the Old National Bank in Martinsburg and former chairperson of the One Valley Bank Board of Directors. BB&T assumed the scholarship in 2004.
Benjamin and Mary Lou Mehrling Fund
The Benjamin and Mary Lou Mehrling Endowment is designated as a general academic award. This endowment was created by the Mehrlings to show their support for Shepherd University. A 1954 graduate of Shepherd, Dr. Mehrling was a professor, bookseller, and ordained minister.
Berkeley County Crime Solvers Scholarship
The Berkeley County Crime Solvers Scholarship is designated for employees of Berkeley County fire departments or law enforcement agencies. This endowed fund was established in 2006. Recipients must be enrolled in a criminal justice program at the Blue Ridge CTC.
Berkeley-Jefferson Extension Master Gardeners Scholarship
The Berkeley-Jefferson Extension Master Gardeners Scholarship is designated for students pursuing a certificate or degree in Shepherd’s Sustainable Agriculture Program. This annually funded award was established in 2019 by the Berkeley-Jefferson Extension Master Gardeners, a program conducted by WVU Extension Service through the county extension offices and designed to use the services of volunteers trained in home horticultural to share their knowledge with other county residents. The Sustainable Agriculture Program is the result of a collaboration between the Environmental Studies Program and the College of Business that focuses on sustainable agriculture production and agricultural business management.
Bertha M. Thomas Memorial Scholarship
The Bertha M. Thomas Memorial Scholarship is designated as a general academic award. This endowment was created by Ralph Thomas in memory of his wife, Bertha M. Thomas.
Bertha Rae Baker Memorial Scholarship
The Bertha Rae Baker Memorial Scholarship is designated for full-time elementary education majors who exhibit financial need. This endowment was established by Ms. Phoebe Leeman in memory of her mother, who graduated from Shepherd College in 1915. The scholarship honors Mrs. Baker's long-time teaching career by creating opportunities for future educators.
Betty Pugh Memorial Scholarship
The Betty Pugh Memorial Scholarship is designated for students at Blue Ridge Community and Technical College studying science or medicine. This annually funded award was established in 2005 by the Martinsburg branch of the AAUW in memory of Betty Pugh, former president of the AAUW and director of the Berkeley County United Way for several years.
