Richard L. Stephan Endowment
The Richard L. Stephan Endowment is designated as program support for the Shepherd Observatory program. This endowment was created by Catherine Irwin in memory of her husband, Richard, who enjoyed studying astronomy. Richard's telescope and astronomy books were donated to the program as well.
Roach Oil Company Business Scholarship
The Roach Oil Business Scholarship is designated for students majoring in business administration, business management, or accounting from Berkeley, Jefferson, or Morgan Counties, WV, or Washington County, MD. This endowment was established by 1953 Shepherd graduate Douglas Roach to support regional students pursuing careers in business.
Rob and Mary Logan Hoxton Scholarship, Rural Financial Planning Project
The Rob and Mary Logan Hoxton Scholarship is designated for business administration majors who have declared a concentration in financial planning. This annually funded award was established by Rob and Mary Logan Hoxton as part of the Rural Financial Planning Project. The initiative strives to improve the lives of rural Americans through the promotion of financial literacy and the delivery of financial planning by well-trained and ethical financial planning professionals.
Rob Bradford Memorial Scholarship
The Rob Bradford Memorial Scholarship is designated in support of student athletes who are members of the Shepherd University football team. This annually funded award was created in 2015 in memory of Rob Bradford '87, who passed away in 2014 from Mutiple Myeloma. A member of Shepherd's Hall of Fame, Rob was a standout football player during his time at the University.
Robert "Bob" T. Grant and Elsie (Turner) Grant Memorial Scholarship
The Robert "Bob" T. Grant and Elsie (Turner) Grant Memorial Scholarship is designated for Virginia residents who graduated from James Wood High School in Winchester, VA, and are studying education at Shepherd. This deferred scholarship award was established in 2016 by Elsie Turner Grant '62 in memory of her husband, Bob Grant '62, who passed away in July 2015. Bob and Elsie met at Shepherd and worked as educators in Frederick County, VA, including James Wood High School, where Bob taught history and Elsie taught English before becoming the school's director of guidance.
Robert "Bob" T. Grant Memorial Scholarship
The Robert "Bob" T. Grant Memorial Scholarship is designated for Virginia residents who graduated from James Wood High School in Winchester, VA, and are studying education at Shepherd. Robert A. and Linda Grove Carpenter Scholarship
The Robert A. and Linda Grove Carpenter Scholarship is designated for deserving students from Berkeley County, WV, or Washington County, MD, who are family members of a U.S. armed service veteran. This endowment was originally established as an annually funded award.
Robert L. and Jean M. Rissler Scholarship
The Robert L. and Jean M. Rissler Scholarship is designated as a general academic award. This endowment was established by Robert Rissler '47, a member of the Shepherd University Foundation board of directors, in memory of his wife Jean Rissler '49. Originally established in Jean’s name only, Robert later changed the name of the award to reflect the couple’s mutual desire to leave their estate to Shepherd through a bequest in his will. The Risslers, who had no children, also requested the Shepherd University Foundation to serve as executor of the estate, which included Jean’s historic family home in Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia. Since Robert's death in 2002, approximately 30 students per year benefit from awards funded through the Robert and Jean Melvin Rissler Scholarship.

The Robert Schell Ulrich Endowment is designated as program support for the George Tyler Moore Center for Civil War Studies. This deferred endowment was created by Robert Schell Ulrich.
Robert W. and Gina M. Miller endowment
The Robert W. and Gina M. Miller endowment is designated as a general academic award. This endowment was established by Gina M. Miller '10 in memory of her spouse, Robert Miller, following his passing in 2013.
