Patricia Ann Johnston Memorial Scholarship
The Patricia Ann Johnston Memorial Scholarship is designated for Shepherd University nursing students. This endowment was created in 2020 by Shepherd alumnus Norval G. Johnston '57 in memory of his wife. Patricia Ann "Pat" Johnston was a registered nurse and professor of surgical and medical nursing. She retired from nursing to raise a family but remained active in her local community of Big Flats, NY, where she directed the Big Flats Community Food Pantry for 22 years and provided nursing care during two historic floods. Ms. Johnston passed away in July 2020.
Patterson Family Analytics Scholarship
The Patterson Family Analytics Scholarship is designated for Shepherd students pursuing studies in the College of Business. This annually funded award was created in 2021 by alumnus Andrew Patterson '95. Andrew is the youngest of four brothers who attended Shepherd University. Three of the siblings, including Andrew, went on to enjoy successful careers in data and analytics. The Patterson Family Analytics Scholarship will support one student each year for a minimum of five years.
Paul and Lisa Welch Endowment
The Paul and Lisa Welch Endowment is designated as general university support for the Robert C. Byrd Center for Congressional History and Education. This endowed was created in 2009 by Paul and Lisa Welch, both of whom are actively involved in the Shepherd University campus community, as well as the Shepherdstown community.
Paul Saab Memorial Scholarship
The Paul Saab Memorial Scholarship is a general academic award for students who have been involved with the Kiwanis Club. This endowment was created in 2001 by the Kiwanis Club of Shepherdstown in memory of Paul Saab, who was an assistant professor of biology at Shepherd and an active member with the local and state Kiwanis chapters.
Paul V. Armstrong and Judy Harris Armstrong Education Scholarship
The Paul V. Armstrong and Judy Harris Armstrong Education Scholarship is designated for education majors meeting all the requirements of the Shepherd University undergraduate education program who are POST Juncture I or the equivalent. Additionally, each recipient must be a graduate of a West Virginia public high school, with preference given to graduates of Philip Barbour H.S., Richwood H.S., Williamstown H.S., or Braxton County H.S. If there are no eligible candidates from the aforementioned high schools, then preference shall be given to to students who are first in their family to attend college. This endowed award was established in 2019 by Shepherd alumni Paul Armstrong '70 and Judy Harris Armstrong '70.
Pauline Gregory Memorial Scholarship
The Pauline Gregory Nursing Memorial Scholarship is designated for nursing majors. This endowment was established in memory of Pauline Gregory to commemorate her volunteer nursing services to paraplegics at the Newton D. Baker Paraplegics and Associates.
Paxton Gregg and Vivian Park Snyder Scholarship
The Paxton Gregg and Vivian Park Snyder Scholarship is designated as a general academic award. This endowment was created in 2002 by Vivian Snyder in memory of her late husband, P. Gregg Snyder '63. Mrs. Snyder was an employee of Shepherd University from 1956 until her retirement in 1990.
Peggy Collins Porterfield Memorial Nursing Scholarship
The Peggy Collins Porterfield Memorial Nursing Scholarship is designated for nursing majors. This endowment was created by Shepherd alumna Jennifer Porterfield in 2007 in memory of her mother, who was a nurse at City Hospital and a graduate of the hospital’s nursing program.
Percy H. and Hubert D. Lowry Memorial Scholarship
The Percy H. and Hubert D. Lowry Memorial Scholarship is designated as a general academic award for WV residents. This endowment was established in memory of Percy Lowry '14 and Hubert Lowry '17 by their sister, Mary.
Peter and Solomon Shriver Memorial Scholarship
The Peter and Solomon Shrive Memorial Scholarship is designated as a general academic award for Shepherd students who are descended from either Peter or Solomon Shriver, who immigrated from Holland to America in 1748. This endowment was established in 1991 by Harold Shriver. Eligible students must self-identify with the Office of Financial Aid.
