Nancy Miller Dockeney Memorial Scholarship
The Nancy Miller Dockeney Memorial Scholarship is designated for students pursuing a degree in music. This endowment was established in 2003 by the parents of Nancy Dockeney '70 following her death in a tragic car accident. Nancy was a music major at Shepherd and taught music in the Berkeley County Public School system.
Neill M. Whittington, II Memorial Scholarship
The Neill Whittington, II Memorial Scholarship is designated for student-athletes involved in Shepherd's tennis program. This annually funded award was created in 2002 by Michelle and Nancy Whittington, wife and sister to Neill Whittington, a lifelong resident of Martinsburg, WV, and avid tennis player.
Nellie Gantt Owens Book Scholarship
The Nellie Gantt Owens Book Scholarship is designated for the purpose of funding book purchases for English majors. This endowment was established in 2004 by Valerie Owens '76, a Shepherd graduate who now serves as the University's executive director of communications. Valerie wished to honor the memory of her paternal grandmother, who attended Shepherd in the early 1920's and was a teacher early in the early years of her career.
Nevin M. Shank Memorial Scholarship
The Nevin M. Shank Memorial Scholarship is designated for juniors from Washington County, MD majoring in general education or business. This endowed fund was established by Irvalyn Ridenour '69 in memory of her father.
Newton B. McKee Scholarship
The Newton B. McKee Scholarship is designated as a general academic award for residents of Berkeley and Jefferson County, WV. This endowment was established in 1990 by Newton B. McKee, a 1920 graduate of Shepherd College.
Njouve Scholarship
The Njouve Scholarship is designated for students majoring in sociology. This annually funded award was created by Kevin Howley '95, who began working for the UN World Food Program in Tanzania after his graduation. Kevin chose the name for the scholarship from a Bantu word for elephant.
Noah Jayce Washington Scholarship
The Noah Jayce Washington Scholarship was created in 2017 by Noah's mother Allyson Orndorff Washington '13 and grandmother Brenda Orndorff. Noah passed away after a premature birth during Allyson's junior year in Shepherd's nursing program. The scholarship is in support of nursing students.
Oak Tree Homes Men's Golf Scholarship
The Oak Tree Homes Men's Golf Scholarship is designated for NCAA eligible student-athletes on Shepherd University's men's golf team or high school student-athletes who are prospective members of the men's golf team. This annually funded award was established in 2019 by Ken Martin, president of Oak Tree Homes.
Ollie Lightfoot Tolbert Memorial Scholarship
The Ollie Lightfoot Tolbert Memorial Scholarship is designated as a general academic award for multicultural leadership students. This endowment was created by Edwina Tolbert and James Tolbert, the children of Ollie Tolbert, in recognition of students who are committed to improving race relations in our society and enhancing cultural diversity on Shepherd's campus and in the community. Ollie Lightfoot was a well-respected member of the community with a legacy of leadership.
Opal D. Morris Nursing Scholarship
The Opal D. Morris Nursing Scholarship is designated for nursing majors at Shepherd University. This deferred endowment was created in 2020 by Shepherd alumna Tina Marie Morris '84, in memory of her mother, who served her country as a nurse during World War II.
