Jerry and Carol Kerr Scholarship
The Jerry and Carol Kerr Scholarship is designated for students majoring in accounting. This endowment was established in 2000 by the couple to show their support for Shepherd University. Jerry is a 1968 graduate of Shepherd and a member of the Shepherd University Foundation board of directors.
Jessie and Mary J. Hendrix Scholarship
The Jessie and Mary Hendrix Scholarship is designated as a general academic award. This endowment was established Dr. Mary Hendrix `74 and Mrs. Jessie Hendrix. Jessie was a longtime officer and member of the Shepherd University Foundation Board of Directors. Dr. Mary Hendrix, Jessie's daughter, is a 1974 Shepherd biology graduate and internationally renowned medical researcher.
Jo Ann Mentzer Scholarship
The Jo Ann Mentzer Scholarship is designated for elementary education majors from Jefferson, Berkeley, or Morgan Counties, WV. This endowment was established by Jo Ann Mentzer ‘60 through a bequest in her will. A lifelong resident of Martinsburg, Ms. Mentzer spent her career as a teacher with Berkeley County Public Schools and cherished the many students who passed through her life and classroom. She was also a charter member of the Joseph P. McMurran Society, a special group of donors who have chosen to share their lifelong financial achievements with Shepherd University through estate and other planned gifts.
JoAnn Vincent Scholarship
The JoAnn Vincent Scholarship is designated in support of elementary education majors at Shepherd. This endowed scholarship was established in 2019 through an estate gift from Shepherd alumna JoAnn Vincent '59, a beloved and influential teacher with Berkeley County Schools. Ms. Vincent passed away in 2016.
Joanna D. de B. Blundell Memorial Scholarship
The Joanna D. de B. Blundell Memorial Scholarship is designated for art majors. This endowment was established by Dr. and Mrs. George de B. Blundell in memory of their youngest daughter. Joanna was recognized for her original dress designs and costumes, as well as her wall hangings.
JoAnne Swan Greenlee Award
The JoAnne Swan Greenlee award is designated for women's studies students. This endowment was established through an Honorarium donated by James G. Greenlee after he spoke in March 2000 at Shepherd on the topic "The Feminization of the British Missionary Movement, 1870-1914." James Greenlee is a retired professor at the Memorial University of Newfoundland and a well-known scholar of British Empire history.
John and Lisa Wolff Scholarship, Rural Financial Planning Project
The John and Lisa Wolff Scholarship, Rural Financial Planning Project is designated for students majoring in business administration with a concentration in financial planning. This annually funded award was created in 2011 by John '88 and Lisa '87 Wolff as part of the Rural Financial Planning Project. The initiative seeks to improve the lives of rural Americans through the promotion of financial literacy and the delivery of financial planning by well-trained and ethical financial planning professionals.
John D. Lowe Scholarship
The John D. Lowe Scholarship is designated for juniors or seniors on the Shepherd University golf team. This endowment was established in 2003 by Elizabeth Lowe '52 in memory of her husband John, a 1953 graduate of Shepherd and the owner of Lowe Products Company in Shepherdstown.
John David Russell Memorial Scholarship
The John David Russell Memorial Scholarship is designated for student athletes in the men's basketball program. This endowed fund was established by Junior and Marlene Russell in memory of their son. Dave Russell is considered to be one of the greatest basketball players ever to wear the Shepherd Rams uniform.
John E. Diehl Memorial Scholarship
The John E. Diel Memorial Scholarship is designated for chemistry majors. This endowed fund was established through gifts made in memory of John Diehl by family and friends to honor his 26 years of service to Shepherd University's chemistry department.
