Jason Alan Easley Men's Basketball Scholarship
The Jason Alan Easley Men's Basketball Scholarship is designated for student athletes who are members of the Shepherd University Men's Basketball team. This annually funded award was created in 2021 by Michaella Easley in memory of her husband. Jason Alan Easley '00 was a varsity member of the Shepherd University Men’s Basketball program during his time at Shepherd, playing the position of guard. He attended Shepherd on a basketball scholarship and had always talked of paying it forward. Jason passed away in August 2020. His love of basketball ran deep, according to his wife.
Jason G. Regester Memorial Scholarship
The Jason G. Regester Memorial Scholarship is designated for male students in the nursing program. This endowment was established in 2003 by the parents of Jason Regester ‘02 following his untimely death in a car accident. Jason’s short life made an impact, especially in his nursing work at Johns Hopkins. He kept a journal throughout nursing school and planned to write a book entitled “Nursing from the Male Perspective”.
Jean F. Parsons Memorial Scholarship
The Jean F. Parsons Memorial Scholarship is designated for students majoring in nursing. This endowment was established in 1999 by Shirley Parsons in memory of her sister, Jean, and in recognition of her career in nursing.
Jean Skinner Baldwin Memorial Scholarship
The Jean Skinner Baldwin Memorial Scholarship is designated for elementary education majors with first preference given to residents of Jefferson County, WV. This endowment was established by Garza Baldwin, Jr. in memory of his wife, Jean Skinner Baldwin, who worked for years as an elementary teacher in Jefferson County. Upon her death from cancer, Garza sold the anniversary ring he had purchased for her to endow this scholarship award.
Jefferson County Degree Completion Scholarship Fund
The Jefferson County Degree Completion Scholarship Fund is designated as a general academic award for Shepherd students who are residents of Jefferson County, WV. This endowment is funded by an anonymous benefactor.
Jefferson Security Bank Scholarship
The Jefferson Security Bank Scholarship is designated as a general academic award with preference given to residents of Jefferson, Berkeley, and Morgan Counties, WV. This endowment was established by Jefferson Security Bank, one of the premiere local banking firms in WV and MD.
Jeffery L. Blouse Memorial Scholarship
The Jeffrey L. Blouse Memorial Scholarship is designated for incoming freshmen who have a history of being active in promoting HIV prevention education in their communities. This endowment was established by James Christofic, a volunteer for the AIDS Network of the Tri-State Area, in memory of his partner, who passed away from the virus.
Jeffrey Miller Memorial Scholarship
The Jeffrey Miller Memorial Scholarship is designated for non-traditional students majoring in graphic design. This endowed fund was created in memory of Jeffrey Miller, who graduated Magna Cum Laude from Shepherd University in 1997 at the age of 38 with a degree in graphic design. This fund was established upon his passing in 2002.
Jennings Randolph Endowed Scholarship
The Jennings Randolph Scholarship is designated for students majoring in computer science. This endowment was originally created by Randolph G. Flood ’73, former staff member to Senator Jennings Randolph, to recognize the Senator’s leadership in environmental legislation. As chair of the Committee on Environment and Public Works, Senator Randolph was responsible for much of our country’s environmental legislation. In 2002, the criteria was changed to award to students in the computer science department.
Jerry and Carol Kerr Faculty Excellence Fund for Accounting
The Jerry and Carol Kerr Faculty Excellence Fund for Accounting is designated for the recruitment, recognition, and retention of outstanding faculty in accounting. This endowment was established in 2007 by Shepherd graduate Jerry Kerr '68 and his wife Carol. Jerry is also a member of the Shepherd University Foundation board of directors.
