Helen Cook and Charles E. Barrow Scholarship Fund
The Helen Cook and Charles E. Barrow Scholarship is designated for WV residents majoring in education. This endowment was created through a trust established by Mrs. Helen Cook Barrow, a retired teacher.
Helene Alvarez Bazzrea Memorial Scholarship
The Helene Alvarez Bazzrea Memorial Scholarship is designated for students majoring in elementary education. This endowment was established in 2006 by Ramon Alvarez `62 and his wife, Mary, to honor the memory of Ray's sister. Mrs. Bazzrea spent most of her career working in support of education at the Maryland School of the Deaf and the Little Bo Peep Day Care Center.
Hendrix Tennis Scholarship
The Hendrix Tennis Scholarship is designated for student athletes in the Shepherd University tennis program. This annually funded award was created by Mrs. Jessie Hendrix, a longtime officer and member of the Shepherd University Foundation board of directors.
Henry and Edna Snyder, Jr. Scholarship
The Henry and Edna Snyder, Jr. Scholarship is designated as a general academic award for students from Jefferson County, WV. This endowment was established in 1994 by the late Henry and Edna Snyder, who were both graduates on Shepherd in the 1930's.
Henry W. Miller, Jr. Scholarship
The Henry W. Miller, Jr. Scholarship is designated for students majoring in environmental studies. This annual award is funded by grants from the Henry W. Miller, Jr. fund at The Pittsburgh Foundation.
Holcombe English Scholarship
The Holcombe English Scholarship Fund is designated for education majors with a concentration in English. This endowment was established in 2000 by donations made in memory of Dorothy "Dot" Knode Holcombe '55 and her husband, Stanley Holcombe '54. Both Dot and Stanley were English teachers.
Homer N. and Jane Beverly Staples Pankey Research Memorial Scholarship
The Homer N. and Jane Beverly Staples Pankey Research Memorial Fund is designated as general program support for academic research. This endowed fund was created by Dr. Homer R. Pankey '59 in memory of his parents.
Howard N. and Goldie G. Carper Memorial Scholarship
The Howard N. and Goldie E. Carper Memorial Scholarship is designated as a general academic award. This endowment was established by Dr. Howard Carper, Jr. in memory of his parents.
Howard N. Carper, Jr. Endowed Scholarship
This scholarship was established upon the retirement of Dr. Howard Carper, Jr., after 36 years of service to Shepherd College. He joined the faculty in 1957 and was named Academic Dean in 1984 and Vice President for Academic Affairs in 1989. It is a general academic award
Hoxton Endowed Lectureship for Financial Planning
The Hoxton Endowed Lectureship for Financial Planning is designated as a discretionary faculty development fund in support of a faculty member in the College of Business teaching in the financial planning program. This endowment was created in 2020 by Shepherdstown residents Rob and Mary Logan Hoxton, who also provided an additional gift of first-year seed money to create the Center for Financial Education at Shepherd University. The center will serve to develop curriculum and activities, raise money for scholarships, conduct research, and offer financial planning education to the community.
