Guy Frank Professor Emeritus Scholarship
The Guy Frank Professor Emeritus Scholarship is designated for music students. This endowment was established to honor Dr. Guy Frank through gifts from the Shepherdstown Rotary and Machen Music in Hagerstown, MD. Dr. Frank was a former chair of the Department of Creative Arts at Shepherd and a founding member of Shepherdstown's Millbrook Orchestra.
Guy J. Frank Memorial Faculty Enrichment Fund for Music
The Guy Frank Memorial Faculty Enrichment Fund for Music is designated is designated for the recruitment, recognition, and retention of outstanding faculty in music. This endowment was established by Meredith Frank upon her father's death in 2010. Dr. Frank was a former chair person of the division of creative arts at Shepherd University.
Harry C. Rickard Scholarship
The Harry C. Rickard Scholarship is designated as a general academic award. This endowed fund was established through the estate of Harry C. Rickard '33, who graduated from Shepherd with a science degree. Mr. Rickard went on to study rural church administration at Duke University and served as a chaplain in the U.S. Army.
Harry Edward Wilt, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
The Harry Edward Wilt, Jr. Memorial Scholarship is designated for students majoring in business, math, or science who reside in the eastern panhandle. This endowment was created by LaVerne Wilt in memory of her son, Harry E. Wilt, Jr., a 1971 graduate of Shepherd University.
Harry Hunter Burks, Jr. Memorial Scholarship
The Harry H. Burks, Jr. Memorial Scholarship is designated for elementary education majors who are graduates of Fairfax County or Clarke County, VA schools. This endowment was established in memory of Harry Burks, a graduate from the Clarke County, VA school system who attended Shepherd in the late 1930s. Mr. Burks was an educator in Fairfax County, VA for 32 years.
Harry V. Klug Memorial Scholarship
The Harry V. Klug Memorial Scholarship is designated for students majoring in political science who exhibit leadership, political activism, and scholarship at Shepherd University and in the community. This endowment was established in 1996 in memory of Dr. Klug, a former chairman and professor of political science and history at Shepherd College from 1948 to 1966.
Hazel Barnes Memorial Scholarship
The Hazel Barnes Memorial Scholarship is a general academic scholarship designated for freshmen from the Falling Waters district of Berkeley County, WV. Friends and admirers of Mrs. Hazel Barnes created the award in her memory. Mrs. Barnes dedicated her life to teaching and supporting education in the Marlowe community.
Hazel Hendricks Endowed Family/Consumer Sciences Scholarship
The Hazel Hendricks Endowed Scholarship in Family and Consumer Sciences was established in 1996 by members of Shepherd's Department of Family and Consumer Sciences to honor their former instructor, Hazel Hendricks, who was also a 1934 graduate of Shepherd College.
Helen and Albert Alvarez Memorial Scholarship
The Helen and Albert Alvarez Memorial Scholarship is designated as a general academic award for WV students. This endowment was created by Ramon Alvarez '62 and his wife, Mary, in honor of Ray's deceased parents. While neither parent was able to complete a college education, they stressed the value of education and inspired Ray to enter Shepherd College. Ray has served as the Foundation board president and is also the president of the Scarborough Society.
Helen Cook and Charles E. Barrow Education Program Fund
The Helen Cook and Charles E. Barrow Education Program Award is designated as program support for the Shepherd University education department, as determined by its faculty. This endowment was created through a trust established by Mrs. Helen Cook Barrow, a retired teacher.
