Earl E. Henderson Scholarship
The Earl E. Henderson Scholarship is designated as a general academic award. This endowed fund was established by the Shepherd University Foundation upon the retirement of Earl Henderson, who served as the longtime secretary-treasurer on the Foundation's board of directors.
Earl W. Weller Memorial Scholarship
The Earl W. Weller Memorial Scholarship is designated as a general academic award for graduates of Martinsburg H.S., residents of Berkeley County, WV, or general residents of West Virginia who display financial need, above-average academic standing, and a willingness to participate in extracurricular activities. This endowment was created in 1991 by Nancy Weller in memory of her husband, Earl, former Berkeley County prosecuting attorney. Mr. Weller attended Shepherd University for two years before transferring to West Virginia University, where he eventually graduated from law school. Nevertheless, Mr. Weller maintained a lifelong interest in Shepherd, where he taught business law and served as a legal advisor on the Shepherd University Foundation board of directors.
Eastern Panhandle Federal Executives Association of WV Public Service Scholarship
The Eastern Panhandle Federal Executives Association of WV Public Service Scholarship is designated as a general academic award. This endowment was created in 2006 to promote student awareness of public service and encourage participation in projects and programs relating to community involvement.
Ed Herendeen Fund for Contemporary Theater
The Ed Herendeen Fund for Contemporary Theater is designated as program support for the Contemporary American Theater Festival. Previously named for the CATF, this endowed fund was renamed in honor of Ed Herendeen, founder and artistic director of Shepherd's theater program.
Edmund Schley and Lelia Jeanette Moler Hoffmaster Scholarship
The Edmund Schley and Lelia Jeanette Moler Hoffmaster Scholarship is designated for education majors who reside in Jefferson County, WV. This endowment was established in 2003 by John Hoffmaster to honor his parents.
Edward and Mary Ann Rogers Education Scholarship
The Edward and Mary Ann Rogers Education Scholarship is designated for students majoring in education. This deferred endowment was created by Mary Ann Rogers '60 after her husband's passing in 2011. Ed and Mary Ann were both teachers in the Jefferson and Berkeley County, WV school systems, as well as in Colorado and Wyoming.
Edward L. Snyder Endowed Chair for Business
The Edward L. Snyder Endowed Chair for Business is designated as a discretionary fund for the school's dean to strengthen the academic excellence and stimulate growth of the business program and may be used to recruit, recognize, and retain outstanding faculty, including the position of dean. This endowed chair was established by Michael A. Smith '89 and Valley Proteins, Inc.
Elementary Education Scholarship
The Elementary Education Scholarship is designated for elementary education majors. This endowment was established through a donation from the Eastern WV Association for Young Children.
Elise Hoch Memorial Scholarship
The Elise Hoch Memorial Scholarship is designated for students in the music department. This endowment is a departmental award, with the annual decision by the chair and faculty of the music department to either award the funds to music majors in the form of a scholarship, or to sponsor a concert by an outside artist. It is one of the earliest scholarships established through the Shepherd University Foundation.
Elizabeth J. Snyder Memorial Scholarship
The Elizabeth J. Snyder Memorial Scholarship is designated for students majoring in history. This deferred endowment was created in 2012 by Clarence and Delores Burdette in memory of their beloved only granddaughter, Elizabeth, who passed away in 2009 at the age of 28. A National Merit Finalist, Elizabeth was a student at Shepherd at the time of her death and had planned to pursue her Ph.D. in history.
