Donors to the Business 2020 Initiative to help kick start the College of Business at Shepherd University were recognized at the reception with a commemorative plaque.
The Business 2020 fundraising campaign was initiated by Shepherd alum Mike Smith (left) with a challenge gift that pledged to match additional gifts and pledges up to $250,000 over the next five years. Mike is the current vice president and former president of the Shepherd University Foundation Board of Directors. He is pictured here with Ray Alvarez (right), who served as chair of the Business 2020 Committee.
Mike and Ray are joined by Dr. William “Ben” Martz, dean of the College of Business, and Marcia Brand, a member of Shepherd University’s Board of Governors.
Charles “Chazz” Printz admires the new Business 2020 recognition plaque, which bears his father’s name. Charles “Charlie” Printz graduated from Shepherd College in 1940 and later was the first to chair the university’s Business Department.
During the program, Dr. Ben Martz provided an overview of the new College of Business and its goals and objectives for the future.
Shepherd University President Mary Hendrix praised the Business 2020 Initiative and the new College of Business in her remarks.
