The Shepherd University Foundation Welcomes New Board President

Following the annual board meeting on September 19, the Shepherd University Foundation held a thank-you reception in honor of departing board president Christopher S. Colbert.

Colbert joined the Foundation board in 2012, first serving as vice president and starting as president in 2017. His dedication and commitment to the Foundation’s work has been essential over the last seven years.

Under his direction, the Foundation executed several new initiatives and experienced many changes. Colbert was instrumental in strengthening the board through the recruitment of new members and communication with current members.

The Shepherd University Foundation welcomes Austin J. Slater as the new president of the board. Under Slater’s leadership, the Foundation will remain committed to its longstanding mission of advancing Shepherd University.

“I am profoundly honored that my colleagues have voted me in as President of the Foundation Board,” said Slater. “As an alumni, who worked through all my college years, I personally understand the continuing need for financial support and encouragement. Consequently, being a part of helping our students reach their goals is hugely important and fulfilling for me.”
