Scholar Spotlight with Tania Hernandez

As we reach the end of our Commencement countdown, our final Scholar Spotlight of the academic year shines on graduating senior Tania Hernandez, a computer science major and Shepherdstown native. Tania is a recipient of the Mary Elizabeth Lewis Memorial Scholarship designated for West Virginia residents majoring in computer science or music. This endowed fund was established by Donald and Alice Lewis in memory of their daughter, Mary Beth, who also studied computer science at Shepherd. Their wish in creating the scholarship was that it assist deserving Shepherd students who share the same passions that Mary Jane did in life.

“Like me, Mary Jane was a West Virginia resident and computer science major at Shepherd, and I am honored to represent her memory and legacy,” said Tania. “When I graduate I look forward to contributing to my community and hope that I can make a difference in others’ lives the way this award has made a difference in mine.”

Congratulations to all our graduating Foundation scholars and to the Class of 2021!
