As we wrap up this spring semester, the Scholar Spotlight is on Rebecca Shadle, a junior nursing major from Kearneysville, WV. Rebecca received the Keith and Susan Batten Scholarship, designated for both social work and nursing majors who have been lifelong residents of Jefferson or Berkeley Counties, WV. This scholarship was established by Dr. Susan Batten in memory of her husband Richard K. Batten who served as Director of Social Work at City Hospital in Martinsburg, WV and as a field instructor for Shepherd College.

“The Keith and Susan Batten Scholarship has aided me in the affordance of necessary supplies for my schooling, as well as the learning of essential skills, which I will use in the future to serve our community as a nurse,” said Rebecca.
