Scholar Spotlight with Mark Sia

“Receiving this scholarship has significantly alleviated my financial burdens and given me the ability to prioritize my educational pursuits,” said Mark. “As a veteran, this support enables me to allocate more time to my coursework, research initiatives, and projects that benefit the West Virginia community. I am appreciative of the opportunity and am committed to honoring this investment through timely graduation, principled leadership, and a dedication to providing service and opportunities for future students.”
Mark is a recipient of the Dr. Fred Kenamond Business Scholarship, established by Dr. Frederick Kenamond, a 1937 graduate of Shepherd College. Dr. Kenamond’s father, A.D. Kenamond, worked for Shepherd in a number of capacities, including Dean of the University, a position he held with distinction for over 20 years until his retirement in 1948.
Mark also received the Tony Del-Colle Memorial Scholarship, an endowment established by Michael and Carol Del-Colle in memory of their son, Tony, who was a non-traditional business major at Shepherd. Tony’s parents chose to honor his commitment to education by establishing a scholarship to assist fellow students who may not go directly from high school to college.
