Scholar Spotlight with Margaret McDonagh
In our Scholar Spotlight this week is Margaret McDonagh, a junior from Kearneysville, WV. Margaret is majoring in elementary education with an endorsement in media (math education, grades 5-9) and is a recipient of the JoAnn Mentzer Scholarship.
A lifelong resident of Martinsburg, WV, Ms. Mentzer spent her career as a teacher with Berkeley County Public Schools and cherished the many students who passed through her life and classroom. She established this scholarship in support of elementary education majors from Jefferson, Berkeley, or Morgan Counties, WV.
“I am ever so appreciative of receiving the Jo Ann Mentzer Scholarship this year,” says Margaret. “It is a blessing to receive this award because it allows me to focus on my education instead of worrying about how I’m going to afford attending college.”
Jo Ann Mentzer established this named scholarship through a bequest in her will and was a charter member of the Joseph P. McMurran Society, a special group of donors who have chosen to share their lifelong financial achievements with Shepherd University through estate and other planned gifts.
