This week’s Scholar Spotlight features nursing major Jaxon Bakken. Jaxon is the recipient of the Erma Ora Byrd Memorial Scholarship. This fund was established by PrimeCare Medical, Inc. in 2007 to honor the memory of Senator Robert Byrd’s wife on the occasion of the dedication of the new nursing facility at Shepherd.

“I am extremely honored to have received the Erma Ora Byrd Memorial Scholarship,” said Jaxon. “The scholarship allowed me to put resources toward other aspects of nursing education, such as better equipment.”
