This week in the Scholar Spotlight is Christian Lopez, a freshman business major from Martinsburg, WV. Christian is a recipient of the Burkhart General Scholarship, a general academic award funded by the estate of Ralph and Margaret Burkhart. The couple was devoted to philanthropy, giving not only to Shepherd, but also to City Hospital, Hospice, and numerous other charities.

“Receiving this scholarship means a lot to me, as it has helped me pursue my academic goals and dreams,” said Christian. “Being a first generation college student has its challenges and I’m extremely grateful for the gift that made this scholarship award possible.”
