Scholar Spotlight with Caitlin Carson

This week’s Scholar Spotlight features English literature major Caitlin Carson. Caitlin is a recipient of the Nellie Gantt Owens Book Scholarship. This endowment was established by Valerie Owens ’76 to honor the memory of her grandmother who attended Shepherd in the early 1920’s and was a teacher during the early years of her career.

“Receiving this scholarship means I have the privilege to focus on my education and my children without the financial obstacles that would otherwise exclude me from furthering my education,” said Caitlin. “Thanks to this scholarship fund, I’m able to pursue my degree, benefit from all Shepherd University has to offer, and work towards a better future for my family.”
