This week’s Scholar Spotlight shines on elementary education major Allison Champ. Allison is a recipient of the Merle J. and Josephine Shultz Scholarship.

The Merle J. and Josephine Shultz Scholarship was established in 2008 by the children of Merle ’28 and Josephine ‘32 Shultz, in memory of their parents, who met while students at Shepherd. Following in their parents’ footsteps, Jeffrey Shultz ’63, Philip Shultz ’68, and Merelyn Shultz Kaye ’59 are also all Shepherd grads. The scholarship supports students studying elementary education or science.

“I am very thankful there are people in the community who are in a position to give back,” said Allison. “I would personally like to thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity. Without you, I would not have the chance to focus on my schoolwork and study hard. I am looking forward to building my classroom and my future.”
