Scholar Spotlight: Nursing Major Rachel Cox

This week the Scholar Spotlight is on Rachel Cox, a senior nursing major from Martinsburg and the recipient of the Mary Livers Thorn Memorial Scholarship. “This scholarship has helped me by assisting with the cost of schooling,” says Rachel, adding, “It’s also a wonderful feeling to be rewarded for my hard work and dedication during my college career!”

The Mary Livers Thorn Memorial Scholarship was originally established in a trust to provide support for student nurses in training at King’s Daughters Hospital in Berkeley County. When the hospital merged with City Hospital, the trust committee designated the Shepherd University nursing program as a worthy recipient of the funds.
