Endowed faculty positions and faculty excellence awards are among the most significant honors conferred upon our Shepherd faculty. Gifts to these endowed funds allow Shepherd University to attract, recognize, and retain faculty with national and international acclaim. Outstanding faculty pursue scholarly activities and develop innovative curricular initiatives and student research opportunities that are the hallmarks of a premier liberal arts learning environment.
Income from endowed faculty excellence funds provides stipends, research support, and other resources for program development that enable educators to pursue projects at the forefront of their fields. Because they foster exceptional opportunities for teaching and research, endowed positions and faculty excellence award funds are fundamental to Shepherd University’s core mission.
The Shepherd University Faculty Excellence Endowment is a general fund, not limited to any one academic area, created by the Shepherd University Foundation to enable donors to join together in providing endowed funds to support faculty as scholars and teachers. Faculty Excellence awards provide funding for special project requests that cannot be anticipated in the usual budget process – such as travel funds that allow faculty to accept invitations to present their work at national and international conferences, or the matching funds required to apply for a new grant opportunity. Donors who wish to make endowed gifts to optimize faculty excellence may choose to give to this fund in any amount.
Many donors chose to make a gift to one of our established named endowments. We welcome contributions of any amount to our faculty excellence funds. For assistance in making your contribution, please contact:
